A promising start with a very believable and scary financial and power conspiracy. But for me it waffled in the endless posturing of those competing for power. You felt the authorial intention much more than any real impact in what became a fairly lifeless story.

Just cool. This is dark with interesting ideas and great art. Its full of conspiracy, cannibalism, and crazy. I liked it!

Every time I read something by Hickman I'm immediately confused, shocked, marveled and inspired. I truly believe his ability to world build is on par with George R. Martin. His MO is the long con and you never know when it's going to hit. I can't wait for vol 2!

This series had not been on my radar whatsoever until one of the local comic book clubs for women I'm in listed vols. 1 and 2 as the topic of discussion for the next meeting. The preview synopsis I read was either a tad misleading or possibly plot-spoiling - something about a group of ultra-wealthy *causing* stock market crashes in order to set themselves up as the sole victors. While this might be the case, the yarn Jonathan Hickman weaves never states things so plainly. Instead, we get some classic Hickman slow-burn world-building, with some police detective murder mystery tropes serving a much more original concept.

Great art, some exciting moments and a good base for a big exciting story. Hopeful the series delivers on the set-up!
