I'm seriously loving Kennedy Fox's backlist! I was excited to read Kendall and Ryan's story next and loved how the author set up the story in the epilogue of the book before.

It was so interesting to see Ryan and Kendall slowly learn more about each other when they were stranded from a huge snow storm. What Ryan thought he knew about Kendall turned out to be all wrong and he actually started liking what he saw. I admired the confidence in Kendall in this book for going after what she wanted. I'm excited to keep reading this series and more of this author's backlist!

I am becoming more and more obsessed with Kennedy Fox books so when I saw this one, I had to read it. I do wish I read book 1 first, but I’ll get there. This book takes place in a world where the pandemic is over but many people are still suffering from isolation, being overworked and PTSD from seeing the worst of it. Because I am reading it almost year after publication, it was hard to distinguish what was based on real things and what was kind of a hopeful world post pandemic. Kennedy Fox managed to take the seriousness of the pandemic and turn it into something fun and sexy to read about which as a nurse I could really appreciate.

Kendall and Ryan have known each other forever. Kendall is best friend’s with Ryan’s sister. They are tasked with setting up the cabin for Cami and Eli’s wedding when a snow storm traps them there. Ryan sees Kendall as a spoiled princess who doesn’t work for anything that she has. This causes hard feelings between the two, it really hurts Kendall because on the outside she may appear that way, but once you get to know the real her, you could see who she really is. After a bunch of fighting, some alcohol, and a smokin hot night between the two of them, they finally are getting along. While they both downplay their feelings, deep down they both know this is the realest most sincere relationship that either of them has had. Ryan just might mess things up again if he doesn’t learn to keep his mouth closed.

I’d like to thank Wildfire Marketing Solutions for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. So I read the first book in this series which is The Two of Us and I fell in love with that story and I have been highly anticipating the continuation of this series and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Kennedy Fox has certainly become a favourite of mine and as time goes on I do plan to get through their whole backlist because I am obsessed with their writing. Like I am in love with it, the characters, the plot and the world they manage to create is just amazing and perfect.

So The Best of Us is very interesting due to the fact it is set in the future a world post pandemic and it was really nice to read and I really like how the authors wrote this and that they didn’t just sweep a pandemic under either it had lasting effects for everyone especially Ryan who if you haven’t read the first book was a doctor and was right in the middle of treating patients.

So Ryan is assumed to have PTSD as well as straggling with his own mental health and overworking which is brought up numerous times in the novel, he’s very closed off and has his walls up high that is until Kendall forces them down.

Kendall you think is the spoilt rich princess but she is not, she fights that stereotype and she makes sure Ryan corrects his way of thinking about her. She is selfless and honestly I love her, the amount of time she does stuff just to help people is so sweet and I love that in the end it’s what Kendall and Ryan begin to bond with.

When Ryan and Kendall arrive at the cabin he is an ass and eventually Kendall makes sure he stops and honesty I loved their interactions. The fighting and insults that turned into sexual tension and radiated off the page. Like the sexual chemistry between Kendall and Ryan was suffocating. The amount of times I was thinking just bang already guys. But they did not disappoint. There’s so many moments between these two that although are cute and romantic are also funny and I just loved the bonding time. The cosmo questions, the games, monopoly it just made me smile and I like that we had those normal moments.

A few memorable quotes:

“Tell her we fucked on the couch last night.”
Honestly I could not stop laughing when I read that I full on wasn’t expecting Kendall to say but honestly I was laughing. Then as soon as that line is said we switch to Ryan’s point of view and his reaction is even funnier. Kendall had so many cracker lines in this and another one is:

“Prostutiting for monopoly money”
Honestly I was not let down with some of these lines.

The sex was written amazing like some of those scenes were hot, sexy, spicy and definitely a turn on! The writing is so good and the scenes are just on point.

I love supportive Cami. I also love that we got to see Cami and Eli in this not just that but their wedding too I loved it. So cute. I also love that Cami was rooting for Ryan and Kendall to be together.

Honestly Ryan is swoon worthy boyfriend material, he is so adorable and may be my new favourite book boyfriend. It was perfect just the way Kendall and Ryan are together it’s amazing. I want a relationship like that.

So the ending of this book has got me real excited for the next book which is based on Piper, Kendall’s sister and her bodyguard Tristan and honestly I’m very excited and I cannot wait to read it!

I’ve been excited for Kendall and Ryan’s story since I finished The Two of Us. I love the progression of their relationship throughout the book. They went from hating each other but that changed as they got to know each other and as learned new things about themselves, they realized how wrong they were about one another. Emma Wilder is absolutely amazing and I love her delivery of Kendall. Tor Thom is fairly new to me but I really enjoy his narration. If you are looking for a red-hot steamy listen I really recommend this one.
