This was a good listen and I was surprised at the ending. Good characters and a good storyline. Great narrator.

As a part of the ALC program by @librofm I had the great opportunity to connect with @deshawn and read his latest novel. I enjoyed it deeply!

Decent People by Charles Winslow takes us to the still segregated town of West Mills, North Carolina in 1976, where Dr Marian Harmon, her sister Marva and her brother Lazarus are found shot to death.

The police is not really interested in finding the truth, however they will have to put up with pretending and carry out a line of investigation. Several suspects will be appointed to testify and certainly none of them will have something substantial to say.

As the story develops, deep buried secrets will be  in the open and old wounds will reopen leaving what once was, completely exposed.

I specially appreciated how the author portrayed being gay at that time, being black at that time and how decent people needed to be more than decent to move past the scrutiny of the town members. It was a sad time but unfortunately, studying black history, it still is.

This is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ novel for me!

And remember, you don’t need to be fixed. You don’t need anything.
