George and Anne receive a letter from Julian just before the school holidays. It says that during the half term he wants to go hiking with them and that they have to pack. Along the way, Timmy gets hurt and the group splits up. George and Julian go to a vet to examine Timmy and Anne and Dick go ahead to the planned overnight stay. During the night, a prisoner escapes and a mysterious voice tells Dick a peculiar message. The next day, Dick and Anne find Julian and George and find out that they have been staying at the wrong place and that message wasn’t for them. Perhaps it was from the escaped prisoner…
