This was the first Graphic Audio I've finished, as the ones I've tried in the past I really didn't like. This seemed to work better than those, and I wonder if that's because it's an adaptation of a Graphic Novel instead of a regular novel.

I’m not one for graphic novels, and if this wasn’t a part of the Cosmere I don’t know that I’d be picking it up. It’s an interesting enough story but Part 1 wasn’t exactly very deep. Looking forward to wrapping up parts 2 and 3 soon.

Interesting concept and story, but the execution was not the best. Two big complains were that their was too much inner dialogue (telling instead of showing) and it felt a bit rushed, but I find that to be the case for a lot of Western graphic novels/comics.

It was not as good as the prose. Characters seem shallow, plot rushed and the worldbuilding flat. Which is absolutely not a case with the unpublished prose version! I also didn't like the art very much, colours primarily. Some little things I didn't like include also: Khriss' dreadlocks (does a black woman have to have dreadlocks? Srsly?), Ais being a woman (that character was just perfect as a man, a seemingly stereotypical dude with soft, mushy heart for his wife and daughter), Traiben's power not pointed out, the way battle with Kershtians was shown. Among other things. No, Brandon, please, abandon the idea of making someone's adaptation of you work canon. I pray to the God Beyond White Sand gets released as a novel.

I don’t think graphic novels are the medium for his style of story telling.

On the planet of Taldain, the legendary Sand Masters harness arcane powers to manipulate sand in spectacular ways. But when they are slaughtered in a sinister conspiracy, the weakest of their number, Kenton, believes himself to be the only survivor. With enemies closing in on all sides, Kenton forges an unlikely partnership with Khriss -- a mysterious Darksider who hides secrets of her own.

Graphic Audio did a great job taking this comic book graphic novel & making it a audio book, but I didn't find this story as well written as some of Sanderson's other stories. I struggled to find a character that interesting or engaging. It seemed that there was just too much going on & felt rushed with all the character introductions. I did get the 2nd volume in this story & will see where this goes.
