Cute, retro feeling picture book. It doesn't say New York City or a year, but it kind of reads 50's modern World's Fair to me. Kind of the right tone, good writing and pacing. Kind of odd but not distracting art.

A SC Picture Book Award Nominee for 2015-2016. Doug shows it is good to unplug. Kids can learn a lot in school and reading books but sometimes going outside and seeing these things up close can be better teachers.

A cute story about Doug, a little boy robot. His parents only want the best for him and so they plug him in everyday to their big computer to learn about the world. Today, he is going to learn about the city. But Doug decides he needs to see the city and he unplugs. Doug goes around the city, confirming what he learned from the computer and finding out that the computer can't teach him everything.

Super cute-possible storytime craft tie in: Have the kids draw pictures of things they see when they unplug. Also tie in to the Ban TV Week.

This is a really cute book with great illustrations. I was so sad that it is really too small to use in a library storytime, but it is the perfect book to read together with your child.

Little robot Doug gets all of his information downloaded to him by his parents every day. But today, he follows a pigeon out the window and gets to experience the real world.

Great story and could lead to some fun conversations with your child as you examine how a "fact book" might present life vs what really happens in the world.

Doug is an adorable robot who learns all about the city by experiencing it instead of getting downloaded information. Illustrations are really great as well.
