Stark, AKA Sandman Slim, AKA the New Lucifer, doesn't want the job, but he now rules over Hell, and it's not all torment and burning the sinners, there's politics, and that makes him want to go home even more.

It has been a few years since I read book 3 of this series, and there are things that I forgot, but while this story was interesting, and grabbed me, I don't want to go back and re-read it so I can remember them all. I think it was all of the similes that filled every other paragraph. OMG, some of them were hilarious, but even though none were repeated, it still got repetitive, thus irritating.

And while there was a lot of action, it too got repetitive. Action here, action there, and some over yonder. I know that's the story, but it started to feel as if it was going nowhere.

But speaking of action, this is full of language and violence. Yes, it's mostly monster violence, with gore, but with that and the very dark humor, I don't think it's unsuitable for readers under eighteen.

While I loved the dark humor and the adventure, the repetitiveness got boring.

Decent action, plot was all over the place. The ending kept getting pushed back.

I liked this book but it falls short compared to the first three. I missed the old characters and besides Stark, we don’t see them until quite late in the book. I understand that you can’t just rehash the old storyline over and over with a different evil enemy, and the first part was good, but I just was left wanting for the other characters

I'll confess to getting a little lost in the plot and not always following the who was doing what to whom and why. However, I was able to sail through on the tidal wave of wit and pop culture references.

Another installment in the Sandman Slim series. I think this series needs a little boost at this point. It's interesting, but the simple fact is that the book seemed like filler. It's likely the book could have been condensed down to a few chapters, but the book kept dragging through little things. The characters are all singing the same song, and it felt like treading water instead of advancement. Still fun, but I think the series is starting to wear thin.

I really wish there were half-stars, because this is really a 3.5. Not as good as the previous ones, in my opinion, but still enjoyable and well-written. While I understand Stark isn't supposed to be likable per se, I found him wanting in some way from previous books. Maybe it was due to him not having "Saint James" or maybe it was the writing, I'm not sure.

Overall, though, a good continuation to an interesting series.
