This was cute, I liked the lesson this book attempted to tell. It really could have done with a few more pages.

I didn't completely love the story, but the illustrations and the four spot colors made me read through it several times!

Greg Pizzoli comes through again!

"He was the best at speed!" really made me laugh a lot. I like that this book talks about the different ways to win, and friendship, and also that there's a gator :)

The children in my class loved it. The book deals with what happens when you do not win and how to make good decisions.

Not only is this a fun book about racing, but it’s a great way to teach kids that being first isn’t the most important thing in the world.

Greg Pizzoli is a master at early readers literacy. He does what so few can. He writes about what kids understand - whether its swallowing a watermelon seed or wanting to be #1 - but does so in simple text. He can convey what kids are thinking and doing in an easy and accessible language. Love passing these along to young readers!

Being number 1 doesn't always mean coming in first.

Read for Librarian Book Group
I was underwhelmed by this, but I think it would be great for early readers and I'm all for the message.
