I like Harry Potter as much as the next nerd, probably more than average actually. This, though, is not a good addition to the canon. It’s not particularly well written, and though it adds some interesting tidbits about the history of the magical world, they waver wildly between silly and serious. The first section of the book is the best, but it heads steadily downhill after that. Also, after each chapter is a short “J. K. Rowling’s Thoughts”, which would be fine for most authors, but I’m pretty tired of Rowling’s gross thoughts by now. I take the fiction apart from the author in Harry’s case and would prefer not to be reminded of the author.

If you're a fan of the series this is an interesting sample of further information. A bit like taste testing all the different flavours at an ice cream shop but never getting deep into choosing just one.

I thought this was made up of those three short stories she wrote a few years back. Turns out it's the script to Pottermore. Which was fine, but i wanted Snape fighting vampires. Not teachers taking a dump in front of their students.

Perfect for any Harry Potter fan. An exploration of characters whose stories were not fully told in the seven book series. I particularly enjoyed the sections where Rowling explained her methods of choosing character names and how she built the HP world.

3.5 rounded to 4, this is cute and has lots of lil goodies of information for any Harry Potter fans but I wish some of the stories had been more detailed.
