I enjoyed the story, but I wish the romances were better expanded.

Igual me dió asquete.

A 35-year-old catching feelings for a 16-year-old gets worse the more I think about it, even in context

A funny and sad book about the different ways men can dick over women.
I would like to have a talk with Jane Austen about marrying teenage girls to grown ass men. Colonel Brandon was 35 and Mary Anne was 16 why the fuck was he interested in her get the fuck away I can't believe they got married after Mary Anne expressed how much she didn't want him and wanted to marry for love. I guess its realistic or whatever but it was framed like a happy ending when it so wasn't.

My first Jane Austen! I enjoyed reading about these characters that I'd only known about through media and cultural osmosis. Austen's ability to lovingly draw out her characters' faults and idiosyncrasies was quite fun. There were parts that felt too glossed over - like why some actions were forgiven or age differences allowed - but all in all, a solid introduction to her writing.
