my mother has had this book for as long as i can remember so i finally decided to give it a read. i'm pretty sure this is the first autobigraphy that i've read and it did not disappoint - a high bar has been set. heartbreaking at times but so beautiful, especially the writing. chapter 23 and 34 in particular were some of my favourites but honestly the whole book was amazing.

Wow well I don’t really have words, I’m very stunned. An incredible story.

Maya Angelou lived an entire life in only her first ~17 years. I didn't enjoy it as much as [b:Mom & Me & Mom|15798797|Mom & Me & Mom|Maya Angelou|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1344371038l/15798797._SX50_.jpg|21521583] but still look forward to reading the rest of her autobiography.
