I didn’t read any reviews or summaries before picking up this book. So I had no idea what I was getting into. It took me for a bit of ride with some twists and turns. But I ended up really enjoying it. For me, it kind of felt like a mixture between the show Lost and the show The 100.

I ended up really, pleasantly surprised by this book.

I was a fan of the short-lived television show when it aired, and always meant to give the novel a try. Finally, all these years later, I got to it.

While it's very fast reading (could easily be finished in one long sitting), the first half of the book is almost so lightheartedly pulply and void of emotion that it doesn't seem to take itself seriously enough. It was fun, but I didn't feel engaged. The second half, however, changes that completely as we are with Ethan as he fights for his life against a few different groups.

While I knew from the beginning WHAT Wayward Pines was, because of the show all those years ago, I still found myself nearly as in awe as Ethan as the truth is revealed to him. In the end, I just really had a great time reading this.

I really wasn't sure about this one at times. I loved the description. And then I loved the beginning. I loved beyond the beginning. But somewhere after the middle, maybe 3/4's through, I started to think it was going to be a complete bomb. Um, it wasn't. And I cannot wait to read #2. Some of the writing is a bit trite and the main character is oft bent over, breathing heavily, with his hands on his thighs. Most characters push down on their legs to help standing up. Annoying and repetitive enough that I noticed but still fantastic storytelling.

creepy and thrilling and so interesting. I enjoyed this book and honestly couldn't put it down. some parts were graphically violent, so be forewarned, but I did look forward to diving in to the next book in the series. not sure where he'll take it from here!

REALLY loved the first 3/4 of the story, got a bit lost in the chaos of the climax, but thought the ending was interesting. I love BC’s writing and, much like his other novels, wasn’t able to put this one down!

The genre of this book seems to change through out the book. It's a little horror, little mystery and a little sci fi/ action adventure. It was interesting but I feel like it missed having more meaningful interaction between characters. I will read book 2 and see how I feel. This book just felt a little disjointed- like I was reading a few different books put together

I've been very disappointed in the last few books that I've read. So, I'm going to read an author that never disappoints, Blake Crouch.

Definitely lived up to my expectations. Can't wait to watch the series now. And I'll be binging on that soon.

I saw the TV series years ago so have had this book on my TBR pile for some time so I knew what was coming.  I did find the middle of the book to be repetitive and drag on a bit.  Looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
