Wow what a book. Jim really came up trumps with this one of the very few english treatments of this really important family of heavy weapons. Learnt a lot from this one even though I had earlier read a library book on how these giants smashed their way into Belgium. In fact one wonders how the Hun would have fared without them. Talk about a "force multiplier" these lobbed many many shells into what were thought to be (hoped to be) shell-proof forts. The result we all know...
Sadly no modern examples of this fascinating chunk of history remain but this book is an essential read for students of the Great War. Look forward to a similar treatment of Allied heavy arty. Great words, great art, well done to all!
