Although it was weird to read this during a year when we really can't gather in the ways we'd like to, it was helpful in thinking through both in-person and online events, and professional and personal gatherings. As someone who organizes a lot of events but often feels pressed for time to do so and usually leaves feeling like I could have done better, I appreciated the multitude of examples and walkthrough of each piece of the event.
I'd recommend this book for facilitators, people who like to host, and people who convene others for work gatherings--and especially for someone planning a wedding!

I stumbled upon this book from a tiktok, and I didn’t love it. Don’t get me wrong, I think the author has some amazingly insightful ideas on how to host better, more engaging and meaningful gatherings; however I felt like the book was much longer than it needed to be and felt a bit dragged on. Nonetheless I did walk away learning something so perhaps the book did its job!

I really enjoyed this book. As I was reading I was writing down ideas for my work life and other life on hosting gatherings and meetings. Makes you really think about why we meet.

This book snuck up on me. Not at all something I would have read if it didn’t come recommended by a podcaster that I admire but it’s probably now one of my FAVOURITE non-fiction books. I will never look at meetings or dinner parties the same way again! Def recommend!
