Another great read from Karen Rose, You Belong to Me begins a new series, Baltimore. Some of these characters could have been introduced in earlier books but since I jumped in with this book I’m not sure. We meet homicide detective J.D. Fitzpatrick and medical examiner Dr. Lucy Trask as they try to unweave a deadly plot that began 21 years ago in Lucy’s home town. With each new body that turns up J.D. and Lucy try to work against the clock deciphering clues to find the killer and uncover a secret that has laid buried for so many years. Ms. Rose does a great job with edge of your seat suspense, I loved how J.D. and Lucy built their romance. This book is pretty lengthy, almost 500 pages, so I did feel some could have been trimmed but overall a really fun, and sometimes frightening, story. A good introduction to additional characters for future books as well. Good read!

This book was a little gruesome. More so than Kill For Me. While KFM was disturbing because of its victims (who were underage girls), this is disturbing because the killer is a maniac who tortures. I would never watch if this was made into a movie.
Maybe because I was reading Rose at a stretch, but I guessed the reason for killing a few pages into the book. Still, the suspense was great, as now you knew the motive, but had no clue how it would end.
The romance between Lucy and JD was the steamiest of the KR romances I have read so far ;)
All in all, 3.5 stars. Kill For Me still tops as the best KR book I've read (I haven't read all of them though)

You Belong to Me

Medical Examiner Lucy Trask is devastated to learn that the body she stumbled upon while jogging is someone from her past. Soon more victims are placed in her path, and it becomes clear that a malicious killer has set his sights on Lucy. Only by revealing her deepest secrets can she save herself from becoming his next target.
Lucy is an appealing heroine although her tendency toward secret keeping is rather irritating, especially as a killer is out to get her.
Homicide Detective J.D. Fitzpatrick is totally yummy! As a former military sniper and narcotics cop, J.D. has all the makings of an overbearing alpha male yet his physical strength is balanced by a gentleness and protectiveness that makes his romance with Lucy all the more intense and passionate.
Rose writes an excellent villain, and the one in this book is no exception. Vicious and brutal, the killer has no qualms about killing anyone who gets in their way. That said, by writing such a one-dimensional baddie, Rose missed out on an opportunity for providing a deeper and more insightful persepective on the moral ambiguities of vigilante justice.
All in all, Rose is definitely back on track after the disaster of the Vartanian series, and I look forward to continuing with the characters from her Baltimore books.

Great book. Great characters, great story, great suspense and great, hot romance. Just a great book. Karen Rose has done a great job with the mystery and suspense so it is not until the end you really get to know whats going on. A complete review can be read at The Book Chick.

Strong 3.75 Stars. It is both fun and slightly creepy for a detective series to be set so close to where I live that I recognize the places in the story as places I have visited vs just read about. I do like how the multiple strands of story intersect to completion in the end. So of the stands are more obvious than others in this book but it was a great start to a new series.
