I was no prepared at all. My heart is thoroughly shattered and I am left contemplative in the end. Overall, I am unwell, and yet, I absolutely loved this.

This novella is told from the pov of a complete introvert who is brought out of his shell briefly by love.

I love that even though this book was written a long time ago it is still something you’re able to identify with in terms of solitude, introversion, and love.

the amount of yearning is crazy, a love so intense it makes you feel it deep inside yourself.... he's literally me, the narrator feels everything so intensely for nothing, just to end up alone again.... god I'm not ok this was so beautiful

I enjoyed parts of how this was written, but at times it was just so wordy! Our narrator is a lonely man who overthinks A LOT - think paragraph-long sentences. Some beautiful quotes re unrequited love! It was such a SHORT story but I still put it down and had to find the urge to finish it.
