listen. i think...that this would make a pretty good telenovela. i'd probably watch it. it just did not really come out well in writing. it felt like we only knew the characters had chemistry because their raging attraction was being shoved down our throats, instead of showing us the chemistry. the author did have some really odd quirks, as well. she mentioned "single-cup coffee makers" and jasmine's solar plexus so many times that they started standing out to me. the sex stuff was weird, too: please tell the police that i was murdered by the line "he pictured her plumping her breasts for him so he could spray his load all over them." just the so-clinical "breasts" compared to "spray his load" has utterly killed me.

and then, at the very end, the thing jasmine got soooooo angry for? absolutely out of pocket. he did NOT owe you that, not until HE felt ready. there is a difference between withholding out of dishonesty and withholding for protection, and only a child is unable to tell the difference.

I liked this one!

I really liked this one. Like, really, really like this one! It's not all the time you have a romance novel where the entire book and characters are all latinx. The emotional disputes, the secrets, the heated arguments and the hot sex was fun! A LOT of fun!! I look forward to reading more romance novels and delving more into Miss Daria's roster.

A wonderful, easy and fun read!
5/5- A basic start but fell into authenticity. Very sexy and wish it was longer!

I went into this aware the two main oc's would be Latinx and I was pleasantly surprised they were Puerto Rican. (I am Puerto Rican myself....and a beginner screen actress in my late twenties) I was hesitant but excited. I've been sold the "happy minority story" before and it's either blatantly not written with the minority in mind or just a lie.

THIS however was such a nice turn around.

In the beginning it did sort of feel a little forced for but after the initial character introductions and some time, it fell into an authentic place:

The Primas of Power group text was soooo familiar haha

The hierarchy and favorites in a Latine family. Oof the realness... I'm very much Jasmine.

When Jasmine gets made fun of for her Spangish... also felt like a personal attack haha but that relatability made me love it more.

The struggles in the community (like the hierarchy, the colorism, passive family) was present but not in a way that made the story depressing, sad or felt sorry for. it just *was*.. because that is just what it's really like.

I fully expected Ashton to be a typical hot Latino man but I fell in love with him along the way. Just like I fell in love and truly grew to connect to Jasmine - They each were such loving people in their own ways. Never fully toxic.

Even the arguments felt real and healthy. It's never easy but they were 30 year olds... well acting like it. Yeah they had their own personal issues but it was all so well done.

Alexis didn't torture these characters and that was so refreshing.

The SPICE!
Oh this book was hot!
3 sex scenes if I'm correct, and all so sexy and passionate.

Is it sad this was the first book or story I've read where the man has taken an appreciation and use of lube but also the passing acknowledgment and excitement for her "toys".

In a summary I read Alexis likes to write successful Latinx characters but I was not ready to be so fulfilled.

I wish it slowed down at times and maybe even more but I thank the author so much for this story.

I laughed, cried, smiled and gasped throughout.

Looking forward to having this in my personal library permanently and re-read from time to time. I felt so seen. Stories like this matter and sometimes even I forget, because I get used to the "norm".

I'll be adding more of Alexis' stories to me 'to read' list!

The things I loved in this book:

The representation of the latinx community, culture and language. It was lovely to read about that and have them represented in that.

I loved the exploration of consent on the film set. I think it was a clever way to explore that topic and give the two main characters the ability to engage with that in a way that felt authentic

The normalisation of lube in sex!! Lube is amazing no matter your age or what genitals you have but there is still lots of stigma attached to it and that it is for anal or menopausal women when actually it is for everyone and can totally revolutionise your pleasure.

However, I find the over arching plot was weak. His reasons for keeping the child secret didn't feel believable. Even him having a child, just being given one by an ex partner, seemed a bit far fetched and then he wants to protect him but also seems to not really be a present Father. Also Ashton just never felt like there was much depth to him.

It is overly long too as there are scenes that just felt like filler and really didn't add much to moving the plot forward.
