I started reading this because I've been a Lovecraft and steampunk fan for years. It's a well-written story with likeable characters(my favorite was Dirk) and a good plot. I read it quickly and wished at the end that it had been much longer or had a sequel. Then I found the other three books out now and I've bought them all.
I wouldn't mind seeing this series keep going strong. This is one book that would make a great movie. I recommend this book to any fan of Lovecraft and steampunk.

Review written on my phone, so please pardon any strange mistakes.

I think the only reason I finished this was because I've had an awful night and I needed a distraction, but at the same time needed something I could skim.
I suspected I could skim this book, as I'd already read the first chapter and found that it didn't grab my interest.

The rest of the story didn't disappoint - in that regard.
I found it to be rather repetative and full of either running, or sitting and thinking, and not even good thinking at that!

The MC was soooo stupid, and the other characters didn't help much.
And other than the MC working with clocks - oh, gosh, a woman working with mechanics! It's a travesty! - there wasn't much steampunk about this book.

And the author did my #1 annoyance in books, movies, and games: the bad guys knew everything, and I hate that! How did the BG know she would take a car to just that random street? How could they know where she stayed? That she would do what she did?
I understand the author putting them there for action, but it happened again and again, and it doesn't make sense! And it's so annoying!

Too Wordy

For a book that is less than 100 pages long, it is too wordy. There’s too much detail and it gets in the way of the story.
