I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Things are heating up in Portlock. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just say that the there is movement on every thread in the series. There are natural disasters and fires cropping up all over town, missing gems, murder, and more. There is a new development in the fisheye storyline and the relationship that’s been brewing between Bunny and Conner is developing nicely. Even with all the tension, there are still laugh out loud moments. There is another book so it’s not all wrapped up but the ending is satisfying in a way that makes you want to read the next book without being frustrating.
This case was great. The mystery elements were solid. There were hints, of course, but I still didn’t figure it out right away. The potential suspects all had good motives. You can see Bunny’s growth as a detective as these cases have been pushing her. I look forward to her using her special skills more in future cases especially her memory. The character development through the series has been fast but believable because of the circumstances they find themselves in. Bunny is also growing as a person because of the seriousness of her experiences so it makes sense.
Needless to say, I highly recommend this book but you should definitely start at the beginning.
