I really liked this one much to my surprise, as I burned through it whenever I had the chance to read, especially after having low expectations due to Crown of Swords. I thought pacing was good enough, which of course is still comparatively slow considering Jordan's writing style, but it's also the shortest book in the series so that I didn't find it too bad. While the book lacks Mat which I didn't notice much as I am invested enough in the remaining characters, the overall plot still moves at a snail's pace, although the 'bowl of weather' story that has been dragging for a while finally comes to fruition and there's several nail-biting moments that would leave you filled with awe and melancholy. It does rather end a bit abruptly with a tease of what's to come, rather than ending on a high note with Rand's final chapter which I found a bit deflating. Suffice to say it's not a perfect book and not fully self-contained, but that is to be expected with the storylines spanning over multiple books and I am somewhat coming to terms with Jordan's slow writing. However, also offers some of the best chapters featuring Rand in the series and I had such a blast going through them. Overall, I found it better than CoS but still not on the level of other favorites.

I struggled to finish this. I wanted to stop when Logan bonded the Aes  Sedai and Jordan wrote her pleasure with submitting to enslavement and assault.
