Finally got around to reading this one after meaning to for years. Did not see the movie. As I was reading, I kept looking for a twist that never exactly came. Thought the style was a bit slow for my taste in mysteries, but did like the extensive character development.

The revelation at the end and the plot twist is just awesome.

While I found the ambiance and the setup charming—especially with the train’s sense of isolation due to the snow—it was the methodical gathering and examination of evidence that didn’t quite resonate with me. Hercule Poirot’s step-by-step investigation felt a bit slow, and the heavy focus on analyzing clues made me feel somewhat disconnected from the emotional stakes of the story. I appreciate how well Christie weaves together a complex narrative, but the constant rumination on details took away from my overall enjoyment.
That said, the novel’s resolution was satisfying and surprising, and the moral questions it raises about justice and revenge are thought-provoking.

GENIUS. I nearly cried because of the beauty and masterful way she crafted this tale. I was gripped until the very last sentence. It was the perfect mystery: at the end, you think “why didn’t I see it? It’s so obvious!” But of course, brilliantly, it wasn’t.

Top 5 books I have ever read. Hands down.
