Originally published on my blog: Nonstop Reader.

Christmas Delights is a collection of recipes and ideas for the Christmas season. Due out 1st Sept 2020 from Barbour Publishing, it's 224 pages and will be available in flexibound format.

The layout is simple and the recipes are arranged thematically: beverages, breakfast & brunch, Christmas dinner (main dishes and sides), Christmas Eve parties, cookies and candy, festive breads, and party dishes to feed crowds.

Ingredient measurements are supplied in American measurements only. There's no included conversion chart for metric measures.Descriptions are contained in the header for each recipe. The nutritional information is not included. Extra tips or recipe alternatives are listed in sidebars with the recipes. The recipes themselves are fairly straightforward and are made with easily sourced ingredients. Many are very simple, none of them are overly complex. I was surprised that most of the recipes are not cookies or sweets. The bulk of my holiday baking is cookies and fudge and similar things for sharing and gift-giving and there weren't many here to choose from however, it's worth noting that the review eARC of the book provided represented about 50% of the final page content, so there's likely to be more of all the recipe categories in the press edition of the book.

These are tasty, easy to prepare, homestyle cooking for sharing with family and friends.

Each of the chapter headers includes a simple devotional paragraph or short prayerful saying. The writing is not strident or preachy. They're comforting and joyful and wouldn't be taken amiss by non-Christian readers.

The photography is not abundant; most of the recipes are not illustrated, but the photographs which are included are clear and well done. I wish there had been more photographs and serving suggestions, but I do understand that extra photography increases the price of book projects very quickly.

As a bonus, many of the recipes include gift giving packaging ideas for sharing.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Gorgeous cover! Christmas delights seems holiday orientated but a ton of the recipes can be used year round with a little less holiday decor. Some amazing photos for a majority of the recipes tantalizer’s your senses. The copy I received said it was a sample of the book but it felt like I got a well rounded amount, from breakfast to desserts.

What did I like? This is a gorgeous book... no doubt. With some really great looking recipes that will not only suffice during the holidays but add to other holidays during the year. I would also use some of these recipes for regular dinners. I like a ton of Sunday dinners with the family, and these look rather pleasing and easy.

Would I recommend or buy? Multifunctional book with great recipes...need I say more. Some of the recipes use regular store bought canned goods but it did not take away from the appeal of the book. Time in the kitchen versus time with family.... I’m good.

I received a copy to read and offer an opinion. I loved it! Five stars.

Loved the cookbook Christmas Delights. It is full of every type of recipe that you are looking for weather for your family gathering or entertaining friends. The variety of recipes in this book is refreshing especially for a Christmas cookbook. I love how there are so many cultures and customs being represented throughout this cookbook. This book could be used when studying Christmas around the world with a class or your children at home. Recipes include beverages, breakfast/brunch, Christmas dinner (mains and sides), cookies/candy, and festive breads as well as party dishes to feed a crowd. Also included in this book is inspirational sayings and scriptures, these quotes bring joy to the reader something that is needed during the holiday season, that extra touch of encouragement during the holidays makes, this cookbook more than just an ordinary cookbook.

Christmas in July was an absolute delight with this cookbook! The recipes are delicious and the photos beautiful. Most of all, the scripture and prayers add a stunning touch to this book and bring it to another level. This is a beautiful Christmas book! My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fun cookbook that will definitely help you and your family get into the Christmas spirit through good food and drinks. My only complaint is that it didn’t have very many holiday sweets recipes. When I think of holiday baking and family time there is Christmas cookies and various sweets always in kitchen. This one cookbook only had six recipes for candy and cookies. So if you’re in the market for a cookbook that’s geared more towards main courses and the like this is for you.
