Gorgeous art. Brilliant stories. This is an incredible take on classic noir. This series is PERFECT. An instant classic. I recommend it to any and everyone.

Excellent noir-style hard-boiled detective series - but with animals dressed as humans.

Blacksad adheres pretty strictly to the formula of a detective noir, but it's done so skillfully that it's very enjoyable. The art is top notch, walking the line between cartoony and detailed with precision.

Noir atmosphere, absolutely gorgeous artwork (watercolor! Love it!), convincing and compelling storyline, historical references. Loved it. Who would have thought that humans with animal faces (or animals with human bodies?) would not look silly or ridiculous, but extremely convincing and memorable?

Blacksad is a noir detective graphic novel that follows Private Investigator John Blacksad through a variety of cases. I LOVED this book. The stories are fantastic. The art is incredible. There is a reason this has won so many awards.

Wow, this was just utterly amazing on every level. I don't know what else to say. Beautiful, poetic and profound writing, gorgeous artwork from lines to colouring.

My partner was enthusiastic for me to read this, enough to gift me a copy. I have mixed feelings. The art is nice - really, really good - but I do not like the stories after the first one. I enjoyed the first one a lot! I was looking forward to reading more after that, but I didn't enjoy the next two stories at all. A lot of the themes were handled badly. Sorry to my partner, this just wasn't for me. :(
