I kept reading bc I wanted to know what would happen, but I really considered DNF-ing soooo many times in the first third of the book. The FMC was simply so unlikable. The side characters were prevalent but not developed. The ending was cute but also not well written is the thing. Eh.

A fun read! My first time with the second chance trope.

I'm now on a mission to read every Falon Ballard book. This was only my second one, but it struck me how completely different it was from Lease on Love, but how it again really pulled me in emotionally. This second chance romance made me feel so invested, I truly felt the depth of their connection and all I wanted was to see them getting back together.

Lana and Seth are writers, exes, and enemies. Seth broke Lana’s heart not once, but twice in the decade plus that they have known each other and now he’s back in her life and ready to take her job. Kinda.
Lana’s boss has concocted a plan to up readership and clicks at the digital news outlet they work for by putting Lana and Seth head to head for the same job and making them write about it. The twist? Lana and Seth both have to create tasks for each other that help “always in a relationship” Lana learn how to be single and “forever a bachelor” Seth learn to be the perfect partner.
This gave me all the How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days vibes and I was here for it! The history between Lana and Seth made the story extra sweet and believable and I just loved experiencing the tasks with the characters.
Falon’s first book, Lease on Love, was such a gem and this one of right up there with it. I highly recommend.
