The book sucked so bad, on so many levels.

The premise and general set up were promising, which kept me reading way past the point I should have.

The writing felt super amature. The author kept repeating the same information in different words. At times literally gave the definition of a word she just used. Endless descriptions of platters of food which added nothing.

The pacing was all over the shop.

The plot was anti climactic and boring. The plot resolution was so straightforward I felt embarassed.

Zero development was given to the character relationships. Marion and Elizabeth had no chemistry whatsoever.

I came for a fun, easy read. I didn't expect a masterpiece but damn... this was next level terrible.

I was excited for this book, and it was a fun read and very binge-able, and I liked it buuuuut I didn't love it in the end.

I didn't get why Marion was so desperate and into Lisavet - maybe if Lisavet had more of a presence, they would have had more chemistry, but even with the horror and supernatural elements, there isn't much to sink my teeth into (haha).

The atmosphere was nice and spooky, and I liked Marion as a protagonist in the beginning of the book, got tired and annoyed with her in the middle, and then liked her again (with a grain of salt) by the end.

Overall, the characters fell flat, and the reveal with the twist was kinda predictable. The setting carried this books a long way - I wish it was longer and that there was more time to explore the world and relationships.

The story was good if a little trope heavy, but I just couldn't get over how many sentences were repeated or full errors made such as
Spoiler cecilias eye going from exploded at one point to completely fine in the next scene??
