I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, I found myself struggling to enjoy it. Although the beginning caught my attention, it quickly deteriorated like a plane plummeting to the ground.

The story features a female protagonist who holds the esteemed position of a Top US Marshal. However, despite her rank, she makes some imprudent decisions that come across as foolish.

I think that this is the longest I've taken to read a book.

First off, I love Lisa Harris' books, really love them, and the facts she includes are wonderful, which is why I was so so so excited to see she was publishing a book focusing on US Marshals, I knew she would get it right.

And since my brother is really interested in the Marshals I have gotten lots of info on them.

But I started The Escape right in the middle of a reading slump, the worst reading slump ever, honestly. And I read about twenty pages, set the book aside, and repeat until today when I sat down to finish it.

Wow, I may not have started out enjoying it due to the reading slump but the skill that Harris' has in giving realistic suspense is still something I look forward to.

The cover, the plotline, the characters, and the suspense were spot on.

My only problem? That the next book isn't in my hands yet!

I look forward to reading the next book and hope that Lisa Harris' suspenseful precision in handing out a thrilling story.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

The Escape is quite the exciting read! Trying to catch an escaped killer on the run from a plane crash made for quite a story line and hard to put down. Madison and Jonas are fun characters and I really enjoyed them in this story. Madison's back story peaked my interest especially with the mystery element that's sure to come out in the rest of the series. All in all, a good start to her new series. Looking forward to book 2!

I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Not sure exactly what rock I have apparently been living under to never have heard of Lisa Harris!! I mean I love suspense novels especially sprinkled with a little romance so this was spectacular and I cannot wait to read more from her! She has definitely been added to my go-to authors! The Escape is the first in the US Marshals series and boy does it have me hooked. I could not put this one down. Just when I thought I was reading the last chapter for the night something else happened and I had to find out what happened next. Needless to say some sleep was lost but that is totally okay with me.

In this story we meet Madison James and Jonas Quinn. In their own personal lives they are both on a journey of healing. Madison is healing from the death of her husband and trying to come to terms at the lack of information on who killed him. Jonas is healing from a breakup. I love how they both are letting God take control and direct their paths with each other. This is definitely a slow burning romance and I loved it. It made it more real that it wasn't a rush to get there but you know it will be something that we see blossom in the next book.

This book is seriously fast paced, heart thumping and and times keeps you at the edge of your seat. I mean you will definitely lose some sleep over it! It leaves you in a somewhat cliffhanger so the second book is a must!! I for one cannot wait for it! Seriously if you enjoy fast paced, suspense novels go grab this one!

I've never read a book by Lisa Harris before but this was very enjoyable. Very fast-paced with lots of action. We follow two US Marshals working together for the first time but who have trained together in the past to hunt down an escaped and very dangerous felon. I didn't realize there would be a sequel so when it ended on a cliffhanger, I was a little surprised. I don't particularly like cliffhangers but it wasn't too bad. There were more mentions of religion than I'm used to in suspense/thrillers but it wasn't actually too distracting, mostly just a brief mention of faith or God here and there, not in a preachy or over-the-top way. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in this series (and seeing where this very VERY slow burn romance might go). I don't read many action-adventure books but maybe I should start. I couldn't put this one down.

Title: The Escape
Author: Lisa Harris

Ch: 35

Pg: 327

Series: US Marshals

Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher: Revell

The Escape by Lisa Harris is the first book in the US Marshals series. When a prisoner transport goes horribly wrong and the place crashes marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere with a fugitive to catch.

I’m not going to lie this book me a bit of The Fugitive vibes with the plane crash and escaped prisoner. The book started off slow but picked up pace as the book went on. Madison was my favorite of the two characters . However both characters change and grow over the course of the novel. And as a reader who likes her romantic suspense to be more suspense than romance The Escape was the perfect balance between the two.

While the main suspense of the book wrapped up nicely the secondary suspense thread left a bit of a cliff hanger that allows for a possible set up for the second book in the series.

Clearly, I like suspense. I love novels that bring non-stop action and twisted plots with lots of drama. I can’t think of a single thing The Escape was missing when it comes to that crazy, intense, life-or-death suspense on every page.

The story centers around two US Marshals, Madison James and Jonas Quinn. They are paired up for a prison transfer. Their plane crashes and one of the prisoners escapes. The Marshals must capture the fugitive before he kills again. The entire story is one epic man hunt through the mountains of the pacific northwest. Madison and Jonas have to rely on each other to get out of the woods, stay alive, and find the criminal before he manages to reach civilization and disappear.

The action and near-death situations give this novel a fast-pace feel, but the characters are likable and aren’t just running for their lives (although there is plenty of that). Madison is struggling with grief from the loss of her husband, and Jonas has a similar issue with a relationship that didn’t work out. They have a compatibility and camaraderie that makes them a great pair, whether it be on the job or more of a personal relationship.

Just a warning that this ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but the story is so intriguing that I couldn’t put it down. I kept saying I would read until the end of the chapter, but then just kept on reading. I literally lost sleep over this book! This is going to be one of my favorite series, I can already feel it. But sadly, I must wait for book two.

Overall: 5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)
Suspense: 5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)
