Liked this well enough. Not as good as Mogworld, but still quite entertaining.

I actually came out of this book thinking it could have been funnier. There are some pacing issues and it could have been 50 pages shorter, but whats here is generally enjoyable. Sharp Yahtzee Croshaw wit and a ludicrous plot and main character are the main draws here, and it felt like a SyFy Channel movie. I mean that as a compliment.

It was fine? I mean, I had like fifteen minutes left of the audiobook and kept forgetting to finish it, so that's not a great sign, but I enjoyed it.

Decent mindless fun, never dull. Characters were mind-numbingly dumb, both from internal (to the story) and external perspectives. Some delightful wacky similes, but alsoa lot of jokes that were really lame. I enjoyed listening to it, but it wasn't exactly good.

I really enjoyed reading Jam but I am also an avid fan of all things incredibly cheesy and this certainly fits the bill. The whole book is about an absurd situation in which the city of Brisbane is overrun by man-eating strawberry jam and it's up to a handful of survivors to figure out what the hell is going on and how to get out of there all while trying to avoid the jam and other survivors. This is a great popcorn read in the sense that it is both silly and a ridiculously fast read but the ultimate plus is that it is fun. On the technical level, Yahtzee has a gift for setting the pace that doesn't slow down throughout and even though most of the characters are either self-interested or assholes, you find them compelling enough to keep going just to see what is going to happen next. Definitely recommended for those of you who are kinda done with the zombie trend but like your post-apocalyptic fiction with a lot of humor mixed in.

This is a book about carnivorous jam taking over Brisbane. You're going to either love it or hate it. I picked it up because I enjoyed the author's "Zero Punctuation" game reviews back in the day. 3.5*
