Really loved this one. Even though I thought the character development was a little thin (I just wasn't convinced of the pull of Julian Carax), the atmosphere and plot more than made up for it. A true Gothic-style page turner.

Can you like a book and also get really tired of reading it and just want to put it down forever? I'm giving up halfway through this (and just read Wikipedia for what happened -- wow! the twists!) even though I liked it a lot. Though it's not written in a suspenseful style, I was really nervous reading this...and then remembered that I don't have to keep reading! Yeah! See ya, Daniel Sempere!
