This is my second Sally Hepworth book and I like them, don't love, but they certainly have a place as a solid, family drama/mystery set of books. I saw this one described as a thriller and while there is a murder mystery, it's definitely not a thriller, so once I realized that, I was able to enjoy the storytelling more. I'm finding these books to be perfect audiobooks for me as I ease into more audiobooks.

Again, Hepworth crafts fantastic characters. The tension in this one had me, and I felt like it was all really well done.

Unsure what I felt in the mood for, but knew I wanted something quick, easy and twisty I picked up a trusty Sally Hepworth read that I had only purchased the day before.

After loosing her own mother so young Lucy hoped that her future mother-in-law would be the maternal presence she craved. From the moment she met her husband's mother Diana, she knew it was not to be the case. Exploring money, family dynamics, motherhood and secrets 'The Mother-in-law' was a wild, and unforgetable ride.

There was a lot I loved about this book, notably the twisty plot, duel perspective (both Lucy and Diana) as well as the Australian setting and taboo topic of money and family. I think what was most impressive about this story is the way that Hepworth explored how people can interpret comments, gestures and events so differently from one another.

I was reading this while feeding a baby so I may have missed it, I'm still not sure where all the money came from??

An otherwise all engrossing Sally Hepworth read ticked off the list.
