I’m not sure how I feel about this book.

The characters are in their late teens, but they really don’t act like it. Untouchable, violent, vigilante murders?

Plot was not very believable and the two main characters went from hating each other, to being in love and unable to function without the other,  overnight. Still not sure how I feel about their first sexual encounter - did she consent? She didn’t not like it…

I did have a hard time with the descriptive violence throughout the book, but I’m sensitive like that. Curious to see if the series gets better for me, so I’ll keep going!

I am so glad I took the time to go back and finish this book! :)

I loved Briar + Alistair’s relationship! The tension between the pair was incredible & I cannot wait to see them appear in the other books in this series!

The side characters were also so intriguing — I can’t wait to read their stories! ♡

I’m not too sure what to say about this book LMAO some parts that I’m guessing the author was trying to declare serious with the descriptions I couldn’t help but laugh a little
All that’s coming to mind right now is how Silas is gonna have his own book with a different love story after me reading about him here. He loved her so much how do I act like I didn’t read any of that ☹️
LYRA AND THATCHERRRR can’t wait to see how their story is gonna go I thought the next book was gonna be about them but with that teaser of rook and sage I know they gonna deliver tooo

it wasn't until i was 70% into the book when the plot picked up and even then i was not really invested in it. the fmc was a doormat, and whilst i liked the premise of the book, it still felt bland. the only likable parts of it was the mmc, who was relatable, and the friendship between the hollow boys.

The title is fitting. I felt nothing reading this and nothing after finishing it. I liked the friendship between briar and lyra and I loved their weird pets.
I'm interested in Lyra's and Thatcher's story but I just can't go through the dryness that is this book again

Also deviance was used instead of defiance at some point and it completely ruined the experience for me, I was doubting that I saw typos up until that point
