I loved the way the characters were written and how they developed throughout the book. I particularly loved two of the characters in particular, I really really LOVED Eleanor. Her story, the writing, the character - everything about her! Would have loved to have had more of Santiago's story but his storyline was really touching, how it interacts with Cleo and Frank, and his progression. Basically, I would have given this a 5-star rating if there had been more Eleanor and Santiago!
I've thought a lot about this story since finishing the book and I suspect I will for a little while.

This read like a mix of You've Got Mail and Sex Education (Cleo gave off big Maeve energy) which created a nostalgic yet modern vibe I really appreciated.
The ending was just okay because I was expecting a bit more, but overall the emotional weight of the story was beautiful and hauntingly familiar. I do wish the BIPOC characters didn't feel so whitewashed because I felt this book lacked any nuanced voices to counteract the very white problems this book focuses on. The character, Zoe, deserved more time to shine!
