I can wade grief,
Whole pools of it,—
I'm used to that.
But the least push of joy
Breaks up my feet,
And I tip — drunken.

Inebriate of air am I
Be debonair! Be debonair!
Ah! the sea!
Might I but moor
Tonight in thee!
Not knowing when the dawn will come
I open every door
The soul selects her own society
Frequently the woods are pink
Were they pearls,
What necklaces could be! (om daggdroppar)
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away
Have you got a brook in your little heart
Where bashful flowers blow

Did I read this book in one sitting? Yes. Is it supposed to be read like that? Not at all. These questions and my rating allow me to reach two different conclusions: Either I am ready to be institutionalized because this is not healthy or this book was THAT good.
The answer is the second one. I'm literally in love with Emily Dickinson.

Thought provoking, emotionally stimulating, and entertaining. Emily Dickinson is known for her poetry for a reason. She is a classic author for a reason. Her poems highlight raw human emotions and may be so loved because of their relatability. highly recommend for anyone looking to get into poetry.
