Overall, this was a good story. Loved the MMC and his family. The FMC was a damsel in distress, who is down on her luck and struggling to make ends meet to support her family. Justice came in and saved the day. The story is a found family of sorts and a definite slow burn. I’m actually glad the author didn’t rush the romance. Ciyani had way too much going on and needed to get it together. I love how Justice encouraged her and helped implement a plan to reach her goals. All of my initial concerns were resolved by the end of the book.
There were a few inconsistencies. Justice and Whitney had broken up two months ago then in a later chapter it had been a year. We missed major milestones, during that year that was skipped in the book. Then Justice said that Ciyani has changed so much in the last two years but he’s only really known her for a year.
The book had a lot of technical errors. The tenses changed throughout the book. Some flashbacks were italicized while others weren’t. Some parts were repetitive. For me, it was too detailed. I personally don’t need to know every dish made for Sunday dinner or the name of the random people. You can tell a lot of characters will have their own book. As the book progressed, there were missing words and punctuation.
Minor: Suicidal thoughts

Justice is the man every girl asks for. He doesn’t let the fact that his family has money go to his head. His late mother made sure he had a good head on his shoulders and he shows us that throughout the entire book. He’s definitely my new book bf. Poor Ciyani has been through so much in her short life. The only father figure she knew was killed, abandoned by a mother who hates her and forced to raise her younger siblings while she’s still a child herself. She just wants to be a normal teenager but she can’t. She just wants to give up but she can’t. She has to take care of her siblings and she has goals that she promised her dad that she would reach. When the most unlikely person comes to her rescue, will she be able to but her pride and embarrassment to the side to accept the help.
