I found this difficult to get into at first, but I think some of that is the stiffness of the language (I usually read regency). Anna's plotline really seemed to drag on, but I liked Luke's character arch and it came together in the end. There are some darker themes and it's much more steamy than her later books, but I enjoyed it!

I did really love the use of "Zounds!" And "La!" I think they need to make a modern come back.

Although the miscommunication trope actually make sense within the plot, this book is infuriating. He finds out she's not a Virgin on their wedding night and proceeds to treat her like a hole for almost the whole book. In the last few pages when he finds out the very good reasons why she had no hymen, he issues a quick apology. She waves it away and they have a happily ever after.
BULLSHIT
