I really liked this book (as with most of her writing). It starts out in one direction and just when you are sure it will end one way, it takes a turn and you have to catch up a bit.

The protagonist is insufferable, refuses to communicate, and makes truly horrific choices. It got to the point where I just did not care about how the mystery was resolved.

Very slow start. It took awhile to get interested in the story but once the mystery began to unravel you wanted to stick around d to find out the who and why.

I'm glad I've been ill for most of the weekend so I had some real excuse to be in bed and read. Even though it's been a while since I started it, it's been growing on me slowly. The characters grew under my skin until I felt them as if I knew them, or didn't know them at all but anyway, they felt familiar and alive. Breathing and talking by my side.
