The humor in this was seriously not my cup of tea. I suppose it was trying to incorporate the tenets of geek culture, but to me, it felt very much like it was making fun of instead of trying to be part of it. I didn't care for how they treated Mitch throughout. I'm not sure if the world building happens more in the 2nd half (I got to pg 186), but I would have liked a little more in the way of where they are and how all this Earth stuff has influenced the life on this alien planet. The characters talk about pop culture things as if they're on Earth right now, but they're not. I'm not sure if the inclusion of so much Earth stuff was supposed to help us normalize and relate to these characters, but for me, it pulled me out of the narrative almost every time a reference was made.

Definitely felt like some of the story and character beats were rushed or thin, but goddamn do I love some Tony Cliff art

So freaking funny, well-paced and punchy. I loved it.
The only gripe I have is that it sped up all of a sudden at the end, kind of gave me whiplash.

Also, I really hope there’s going to be a sequel, that’s all I’ll say.

funny
Uses some words such as “cum” which I did not find humorous. Best for 18+

It just doesn’t quite come together for me. The jokes are pretty good. The art appeals to me. Definitely feels like an adaptation, which isn’t bad but I feel like a lot of the world building was either removed in the translation or just wasn’t in the original.
