I have read the first book and this one back to back and I had so much fun, and I felt so happy because I didn't had to wait.
I wouldn't say that the idea of the story is original or that the plot and the characters blew me away, but they were constructed in a way that felt real and it made me curious enough that I devoured both of the books in a matter of few hours.
I won't speak about the plot, especially because this is the second book, but I can say that there were some twists that I didn't see coming and for the lenght of the novel I think that the suspense was enough; not too much but enough to keep you busy and guessing.
I think that this could be a series for people that haven't tried before to read paranormal or YA in general, because it' interesting and engaging but at the same time is short, funny, easy and light, and it can be read very fast. And somehow this a bit of a disadvantage, because reading it that fast you can forget very easily what happened. Especially from one volume to another.
I liked this one, for sure, and I would say try it if you want. But just if you want something easy and fast and still suspenful. But don't read it if you want something very big and complex, with huge intrigues and so on. This is a cookie not an entire cake.

Desire in Frost by Alicica Rades is book 2 in her Crystal Frost series and it picks right up where book one left off with Crystal struggling to use her abilities to try and find the little girl who was abducted. Crystal is still no closer to figuring out not only who took Hope but where the little girl is. She has the nightmares every night reliving the abduction but she always relives it from Hope's perspective and has yet to be able to learn anything new from the dreams or even be able to break through so that she is the one in control so that she can learn something new. She feels bad that she isn't able to do so when she wants to but her mother encourages to not be down on herself and to keep on trying and that she'll get it. Crystal goes on a Thanksgiving trip with her mom, Ted and his nephew Robin to Florida to visit with his folks for the holidays and introduce them. On the trip things begin to become clear to Crystal and the pieces begin to start coming together and falling in place but things are also starting to happen. Hope first sees one ghost and then she starts seeing another and the story gets more complex than she thought. Will she be able to piece it all together and save the little girl who is missing?
This is a really good book overall. It delves deeper as Crystal works to understand and strengthen her powers but it's a working process. She's nervous about totally trusting herself especially when she makes a mistake that ends up embarrassing herself and Ted which causes him to question her. Now when that incident happens I am very disappointed that the mother doesn't step in and defend her daughter to him because he really makes Crystal feel bad. I understand he was embarrassed because she was wrong but he could have handled it better than he does. Crystal is slowly growing up but she's also maturing. A love interest is developed in this story for both her and her friend Emma. I knew that it was going to happen sooner or later with either Emma or Crystal when it comes to Derek but on a level it still feels a bit rushed. All in al it really doesn't detract from the story and so it's a good read. If you liked the first book in the series and want to continue reading it then I suggest you pick this book up and dive on in.

I didn't like this book as much as the first one. I really, really hate Crystal's love interest. I don't have a problem with the character himself, because in later books you'll see that he really does treat her nicely. I just don't like that they're stepcousins. I know it's not blood related, but the fact that they're still technically related bothers me. I just think it's weird and I don't like how books are doing that more and more. Obviously if you don't care about that then yeah you'll like this book more. I liked the book I just hate the love throughout the rest of the series. However, I did decide to start ignoring it just so I can focus on other parts of the book. Plus, this book focused on the love the most.

This was such a fast, fun read for me. Sometimes I find myself rolling my eyes and getting frustrated with the main character, but then I remind myself she is only 15 and clearly not that 'quick on the uptake'. I really do enjoy this series though, even if it is incredibly predictable.
My main complaint in this book is the lack of Emma, I enjoy Emma a lot and hope she is showcased more in the next two books.
3.75 overall rating.
