Easy to read, interesting plot, main character a bit too self aware for my taste tbh. Also I didn't love that
he pinned the blackmail on a dead guy
but I guess that was a smart thing to do.

Well written. Great characters. John Verdon never disappoints.

Sometimes I read a book in a series just so I'm prepared to read the next one. Such was the case with this. This plot was SO convoluted that I completely lost interest. I'm still invested in Dave Gurney and Madeline though! And Jack Hardwick.

I can imagine what the Gurney household looks like and I wonder: has any other fictional character eaten more asparagus?

Looking forward to the alpacas in #8.

This was my first mystery book and it was entertaining enough to make me interested in other mysteries. I will say that it took a little bit to get into it and there were so many characters it was hard to keep track of them. But over all I enjoyed it
