The ExPats is a novel that centres on Kate, an American expat who moved to Luxembourg for her husband’s job in the financial sector. At first her life seems to be a round of play dates, coffee, and lunches with other expat wives who often try to one-up each other. But then the plot really ramps up. Kate is an ex-CIA agent with secrets she wants to keep hidden. There’s accusations of massive financial fraud, an FBI investigation, and all sorts of false identities, lies, and double and triple crosses. Not really my sort of book. But it did offer some interesting glimpses in Luxembourg and it’s foreign population, who interestingly account for around 50% of the country’s total population.
Moderate: Gun violence
