I had heard of this book a few times, always in a positive light, so when I saw a nearly new copy for 50p, I figured I couldn't go wrong getting it. When I finally got round to reading it, I was blown away.

The main character, Vin, is a thief from the streets of Luthadel who turns out to be Mistborn, one of the most powerful Allomancers, those with supernatural powers. She has some interesting development, and really helps make the door what it is. Also the interactions between the other characters (Breeze, Kelsier and Ham in particular are who come to mind) is fun to read, and help lighten the tone at times.

The magic system is very original, and the whole concept is definitely not overdone.

Really, really think is an excellent book and should be read by anyone who is interested in the genre.

This book was INCREDIBLE. It was excellently paced with such good characters, and the Allomancy fights were exhilarating. This book had so many elements to it, so it was never dull, yet it was cohesive.

Mesmo assim adorei o Elend, mas hey, I like trash.

A well drawn world full of inventive fantasy, where some can ingest and 'burn' metals to give them powers. Worth checking out the second in the series.
