per my spreadsheet:
i gobbled this book UP. kicking my lil feets while eating lil treats on vacation. experiencing cooper and penny's relationship develop from friends with bene's to so much more was a thrilling ride.

"what about the spice?" you ask? reading this book in public with a straight face wasn't easy. thankfully i was on vacation.

and the one note i left on my spreadsheet right when i finished this book: "jesus. the end of that one hurt." so. yeah. lol

we've got forbidden love, a secret relationship, friends to lovers, *and* hockey? don't miss me with all that.

spice 🌶  - a 5 🌶  spicy (romance.io scale)
length - just right
reading speed - read in 2 days
did it make me cry? - like- a lot.

Breakaway was cute, and sweet, and spicy, but it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for.

First of all, this book is SO LONG! I’m not usually one to say that a book could have been shorter, but I think this one could have. There are so many spicy scenes, and they don’t all do things for the characters or the story. Some of them definitely could have been cut, or montaged, and nothing would have been amiss. Even with how long it was though, it felt like it wrapped up too quickly. I wanted more resolution, and a more meaningful epilogue.

Now that that’s out of the way, it wasn’t a bad book. I liked Penny and Cooper, and their relationship. I also really liked the therapy rep, and think it was fine quite well.

Overall I think this book was cute, but not well constructed. A good palette cleanse, but nothing exceptional. 3 stars

Cooper, the college hockey player who's never had a serious relationship, and Penny, whose only serious boyfriend betrayed her. Hook-up and then they try to work on Penny's sexual to-do list to deal with her past trauma. But as they work through the list, they both start to catch serious feelings for one another.
This book was quite steamy! Just the way I like romance, but also dealt with past trauma and mental health. It was a great balance of serious, funny, and spicy! Though a bit on the sad side at times for a college romance.
    Overall, an excellent book.

This is an amazing story. The author does a great job of writing about traumatic/triggering subjects

That was such a healthy relationship wow. Amazing. Could've been shorter tho. But at least it wasn't tortuously long.

I’m very conflicted on this one. I really liked both Cooper and Penny, even if their dialogue was a bit cringe at points, but I didn’t love the whole addict uncle side plot.
Idk man, I just feel like making the addict the villain is very outdated and pretty offensive honestly.
Otherwise, I liked it enough, and the spicy scenes were fun and plentiful.
