Adorably drawn and with a good message. Loved the little mouse when I was little, especially as a kid who had to lie to survive

A little mouse goes for a walk in the deep dark woods, and fends off all sorts of predators by making up the gruffalo. But coming face-to-face with an actual gruffalo (who wants to eat the mouse), the little mouse thinks quickly and tricks the gruffalo into running away in fear.

A hilarious story with a tricky little mouse as the protagonist. Great for reading aloud to a classroom (grades 1-3).

The Gruffalo is a story about a little mouse who is trying to avoid being eaten. As he walks in the woods, he encounters a fox, an owl, and a snake and he tells each of them that he is a meeting a Gruffalo. Along with telling them what a Gruffalo is, he tells them that the Gruffalo's favorite food is each animal he encountered. This scares all of the animals much to mouses delight. That is until mouse finds a Gruffalo, whose favorite food is mouse on toast. In order to save its own life, mouse tells the Gruffalo that all of the animals are afraid of the mouse. As they walk in the forest all of the animals are afraid, but not because of the mouse. The Gruffalo is scared off, and mouse is safe at last. I believe that this would be a good read-aloud story for a classroom.
