I loved this book, if I could give it 10 stars I would. It helped me understand my own mother better, I loved the romance (although it's not the focus of the story). The book is very well written, I loved the little refences to 80's and 90's teen movies, the mother-daughter relationship and the themes around first, second and third generation immigrants.
Jamie, the romantic interest, is just perfect, the dream man, I love him so much. I did think the very end was a little weird. The brother, in his perspective, just brings a random university roomate to his younger sister's prom just because the roomate said he was interested in her, despite never meeting her. That'st not the normal reaction, unless the author was impling that Jamie did tell the brother about Throwback and the time they spent together. Thinking back that was probably it.

A fresh take on a time travel story. I thought the mother-daughter elements were done well and were handled in a complex, yet fun at times, way. The book felt a little long in parts, but overall I really enjoyed this!
