WHOWEE

I came for the creepy Stranger Things Vibes, but this book really didn't give what it needed to be gave.

This novel is more of a coming of age set in a small town. The themes of memory being malleable and prone to change depending on the person was an interesting idea to explore and it fit well with how Jake began to grow up. This was a quick read and I really enjoyed the ghost stories that Calvin told, whch link to his own trauma.

I will have to deduct a few stars because I was hoping that it was scarier and more thriller, but overall I was satisfied with this.

I definitely recommend it if you want summer-ween vibes.

Women here are pictured as irrational and not knowing, what the truely think. Additionally men need women to be functioning people, just cannot understand women (ugh) and put them on pedestals.

This book tries to be clever but isn't.

I legit thought this book would be supernatural or paranormal in some way but it was not at all. That's not a bad thing, I just thought it was going to be. I really did like what it ended up being, a coming-of-age story about a boy hanging out with his quirky and troubled uncle and making friends. The only gripe I have with this book is it was somewhat slow paced. I think that I may like this book more upon reread now that I know what to expect.
