I want to give this 3.5 stars, maybe even 4 but there were some parts of the book I really didn’t enjoy. I read this book as I say there was a tv show coming out based on it and I wanted to read it before I watched the show. But this book was not what I expected, it seems the show will be more about the author and her journey to writing an advice column. So this book is a collection of her advice to peoples letters. I enjoyed a lot of the things she had to say but some of the stories I just couldn’t relate to at all. The ones I enjoyed the most were ones I felt connected to and there weren’t very many of those. I did enjoy her writing and appreciated her reflections on her life but I felt like there are a lot of missing pieces, I want to know more about what he happened in her life. Anyway I’m keen to see what the tv show is like.

I was hesitant on how much I would enjoy a series of mini essays in the form of an advice column, but I was pleasantly surprised. There are pearls of wisdom within these complex stories and beautiful writing just like Wild.

Some of what she was saying was interesting but a lot of it was pretty obvious or else she made it into a long story about herself. Realised I was listening because I had downloaded it, rather than because I cared, so I quit.
Also, calling everyone sweetpea and such 🤢

I think I'm just more interested in story lines, so this felt exactly like what it is... An assortment of exchanges on this advice column. Not my cup of tea, but not a water off time at all.

Cried so many times whilst reading this. You learn so many beautiful lessons and it makes you open your eyes to all the sufferings and experiences other people are going through in the world.
