Although I enjoy the story, I'm wondering where it is going. Because of the short format of the books, I am having trouble getting invested. Maybe this should be read as one book instead of a few short ones.

That said, it is easy to follow the story because of the engaging writing style. In addition, worldbuilding is very unique. The characters and their complex relations only add to this beautiful mix of classic fantasy elements.

This story walks a thin line between classic fantasy and science fiction that only works well because of the well-crafted world and characters.

I will definitely read the next entry in the series.

Better than the first book of the series. Less Raymond Chandler, more fantasy.

Much better than Nine Princes. Better pacing and more exciting.

I'm unsure about this series. It bores me a lot at times with it's random events. Some areas remind me of the Gunslinger, a boo I did not enjoy at all. Yet, there is something endearing about it. It might be Corwin's character. He is likeable and interesting. However, a whole series cannot rest on the shoulders of one character's likability. No one else stands out. The others just feel like after thoughts.
I might also dislike this series because of the audiobook narrator. He's not that good and really annoys me at time. Maybe reading it would have given me a better experience.
Anyway, I don't really know whether I want to continue. I don't care about Amber or what happens to Amber. The whole black road thing is just too abstract, so is the dimension shifting travel. Don' even get me started on "Amber's enemies". Really weird shit.
Do I want to spend time reading/listening to another of those books? Do I? No. Actually I don't. So many books out there, so little time.
Good bye Corwin. I'm glad I gave you a shot but alas, we were not meant to be.

This 70s fantasy sequel is another fun sword-and-sorcery adventure across parallel worlds, but it's rather less gripping than the series debut. Our demigod hero was no less superhuman in that previous volume, but as an amnesiac going up against his equally powerful siblings, he was effectively challenged in ways that aren't available in a novel where Corwin has regained his faculties and is mostly off among mortals away from the family. Author Roger Zelazny also continues his sexist treatment of every female character here, including one introduced as the protagonist's teenage great-grand-niece, whom he subsequently sleeps with. No thank you!

These books are a product of their time and the state of the genre then, and they're generally short enough to just roll with the swashbuckling and try not to worry about any bigger-picture flaws. But I still need a little bit more to the plot than we're given here if I'm going to feel properly invested as a reader.

Great continuation. We get to see the more sober side of Corwin
