The book was really inspiring in terms of seeing the good in everything and taking the time to appreciate the things that we often miss in the mundane. However, there were quite a lot of "things" that were so specific (like certain dishes) that i was just hearing about. I mean I couldn't be happy about something when i don't have a clue what it is. Anyways it is a good book to read from every now and then when we need a bit of sunshine in our lives! :)

while i do love the idea of this book it really wasn't for me. the title should've been "14,000 things that make me happy" because the book is basically a list (and i'm using the word list vaguely" of what the author likes.)

i could relate to some things making me happy, for example “a smile, a sunny day, ice-cold Coca-Cola, and a best friend to share them with”
but being a mexican woman i honestly had to google what some things were, like “red-dogging the passer”

This is a nice read that reminds you what you're grateful for which can both be the simple things in life but also fundamental things and circumstances. Barbara Ann Kipfer has a beautiful and living language and a broad knowledge on art. This book is also a study in culture, since Kipfer is American and there for there are things which are different than the way we do it in other countries, so this book also provides a better understanding of American culture and way of doing things.

Cute coffee table book but I would not necessarily recommend reading it. Would highly recommend making your own to read instead!
