This book turned out to be even better than I was expecting with a fantastic group of characters that have come together in their love for each other, and become this amazing source of comfort and support through tough times and intense moments. *Readers should read the author's note at the front as they talk through their reasonings for what is in the book and content warnings.*
Romy is an exceptional man in that he is an omega secretly excelling in the sports world, something that has never been allowed or thought of to do but it is all he has dreamed of doing since he was three years old. It's meant a lot of sacrifice on his part, hiding who he is, what he wants and not being with who he wants in order to keep himself safe. Emeryk is an alpha who is on Romy's team. They have had a strong connection since Romy joined but he has followed the young man's wishes to just be friends. He has the love of his alpha, Izan, three alpha men he calls his packlet, and then his beta, Jen, though Emeryk refuses to join together as a pack as he has seen how that can fall apart when you are a travelling sportsman.
Of course, circumstances change everything for Romy and Emeryk with a secret revealed and the whole pack situation coming into question as others will have to know. My heart broke for Romy, with what he has put himself through to play the sport he loves in a world that is dominated by alphas and populised betas. Omegas are the extreme minority and not ones that should be out, working or doing anything strenuous. He is about to change the world, but not everyone is happy about it. There is extreme heartache as truths come to light, happiness as bonds are created and love as a family comes together. Things do get scary for a minute as it's not just those they know they have to worry about but the world at large. There is also the intense heat scenes that alpha and omega have to, unfortunately, endure but somehow they struggle through!
I hope we get some more from this series, or at least stories for some of the other players on the team. Linus and Finnian especially deserve some happiness. I love what the author has created and the family that have made their place in it with a trailblazing omega, even if all he wants to do is play hockey. Definitely another recommended read from this author and I look forward to the next.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
