Little bit of a spoiler —

It was a good book but I am definitely the hopeless romantic type and I love the happy endings when it comes to books. I mean, yes, it was kind of a happy ending with Savannah being able to live out her dream on the ranch but I would have loved to see John and Savannah end up together. With that being said, Nicholas Sparks is an amazing writer and definitely knows how to paint a realistic situation on paper.

This is such a beautiful and heartbreaking story!

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Believe it or not, I haven't seen the movie yet, so I had no idea what to expect from it. Now I don't know why I waited so long.

"Dear John" makes us reflect on the meaning of true love. The characters go through so many complicated and sad situations. I was gonna say that if you're looking for a happy ending, this book probably isn't for you. But actually, that would be a lie. It has a happy ending. It's honest, pure and unselfish. It's full of love. So basically, yeah, just go ahead and read it.

I decided to read the book after seeing the preview for the movie. I'll still see the movie, but I wasn't as impressed with the book as I thought I would be. It'll be interesting to see how the actors portray the roles of the characters in the book. I adore Channing Tatum, but I suspect this may be a stretch for him.

The book was probably better than "it was okay" but I didn't really like how it ended.

I did once again like the book better then the movie. I liked the more detail of his father and their relationship and what he accomplished.

First of all, I would have rated this 3 stars if it was the book, and not the audio CD. The reason for this is that the reader would make his voice very high when he read the lines of Savannah and other female characters. And ended up sounding like the old guy from Family Guy... it really took away from the story.
I did not enjoy the story as much as I hoped to, mostly because I did not like the characters very much. But it was not bad, like I said before I would have rated this 3 stars if I was not rating the Audio CD.

I have a love/hate relationship with this book, similar to a Walk to Remember. But overall it deserves nothing less than five stars. I read it cover to cover in a day and I was really upset with the ending, but it was realistic. It has insight that shows how there's not always a happily ever after no matter how much you wish and pray for one. I both admire and hate Savannah Lynn Curtis at this point, and it's because of how she treated John and how she acted towards him when he returned, acting like Tim was nothing despite being her husband who had melanoma. It just made me angry. But I love the way there was the Aspergers' and autism in the book, because I know people with both and it makes it a bit more understandable. Thank you, Nicolas Sparks, for another amazing novel I cried over and debated throwing out the window.
