Plenty of moments just as funny as in the first book, perhaps even better, with a strong ending that left me wanting for more. However, at the same time, things felt a bit more.. repetitive perhaps? Nothing really stood out besides some early sections and the ending which has led me to not enjoy it as much as its predecessor. Maybe the novelty has simply worn off now that I am getting used to Pratchett's writing. It didn't have a serious discernible flaw or anything that affected my enjoyment, it just felt to be on the weaker side as a novel. Nonetheless, this one is still way better than my other 3-star books, and I eagerly look forward to reading the next one.

One thing I'd forgotten since the first time I read this book is how cutting Pratchett is on the subject of tourists and tourism. Sure, Twoflower is hilarious, but he's also a menace wherever he goes, and I really love that.

I continue to be impressed by Pratchett’s work and to be baffled by the many people who warned me that the first few books in this series weren’t every good. The Light Fantastic maintains all that was good about book one (the charm, the humor, the excellent writing) while also adding in a more liner and satisfying plot and some more prominent character development. In particular, I really enjoyed the growth we see in Rincewind this go around.
